Atiku’s 2027 Hope ‘Bleak’, Expect Another Loss – Onanuga

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has described the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a “loser again” after a string of prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okowa, who was Atiku’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, was among the high-profile PDP figures who joined the APC, triggering intense political reactions.

Reacting to the defections, Onanuga via his official account on X (formerly Twitter stated, “Atiku’s political future looks bleak. The coalition that he, El-Rufai, Babachir, and new member Baba-Ahmed are cobbling together has disintegrated. Potential allies, including former running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and defunct CPC members, are giving his leprous group a wide berth. Atiku is a loser again.”

Atiku, who ran as the PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections and came second behind President Bola Tinubu, is seen by observers as having suffered a significant setback in his efforts to forge a strong coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
