Asaba Mall Officially Opened by Governor Okowa (Photos)


Governor Ifeanyi Okowa today commissioned the much talked about Asaba Mall located strategically at the heart of the State Capital, Asaba.

Commissioning the Mall, Governor Okowa thanked the Host Community for the love and peace shown throughout the construction period. He stated that this development is in line with the state agenda of Urban Renewal.

The Governor promised that more of these shopping centers will be established in the other parts of the state.

He was taken round the mall where he shopped for himself and greeted Deltans who trooped into Asaba to get the first taste of shopping at the Asaba Mall.

Popular Shoprite, Kilimanjaro, Foodland, FineBrothers, Pointek, Medplus Pharmacy and Black & White Barbing Saloon were the first shops to open to customers at the mall. Other shops are to open for business in few days to come.

The event which signals the official opening of the shopping mall was completed in a time frame of 18 months by Resilient Africa (Pty) Ltd, a joint venture between Shoprite and Resilient REIT who are the equity owners with the Delta State Government and Bravol Development Company Limited.

The Mall, the third in the country preceding the Warri and Owerri Mall under the brand covers a land area of 50,000 square metres.

Asaba Mall with an estimated cost of $45 million, commenced in June 2015 with the ground breaking ceremony performed by Governor Okowa and Commissioned by Him after 18 months with a 95 percent completion of the project.

The Land mass covers a gross floor area of approximately 9,500 square metres of which approximately 7,500 square metres is the lettable space. There are 39 shops of various sizes with the anchor shop already taken by Shoprite spread out over 3,000 square metres.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion include; Traditional Rulers, Members of the State Assembly, Delta state executive council members, Political party officials in the state, business men and women and crowd of anticipating customers.
