ARPP Cancels 1000 Solidarity Man March, Cites Security Reasons
…Urges Police to fish out Abraka mayhem culprits
…Congratulates Okowa on UI Alumni Award
Delta State Chapter of Association of Registered Political Parties (ARPP) has postponed indefinitely, its 1000 man march slated for today, Tuesday, 19 September, 2017 for reason bordering on public security.
The postponed celebration was geared towards celebrating Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the best governor in Nigeria for his efforts in promoting fiscal prudence and effective use of public funds is tagged ‘No Vacancy in Government Come 2019’.
Briefing newsmen after a closed door meeting by members of the state executive at the instance of the ARPP State Chairman, Pastor Comr. David Ashikodi, ARPP, Publicity Secretary, Comr. Iteveh Ekpokpobe, disclosed that the march which was designed in celebration of the success of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa government would not hold due to recent security tension which may no be unconnected to last Friday’s Abraka market gunmen attack.
According to Iteveh, the ARPP condemned in totality, the confirmed incident of gun men who raided Abraka market in Asaba, resulting in the death of four, leaving five injured.
Iteveh commended the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Zanna for his prompt response to the incident and however, urged the Police to judiciously see to the conclusion and apprehension of all culprits involved.
In the same vein, Iteveh congratulated the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for bagging the most prestigious University of Ibadan (UI), Alumni award adding that it was an an ward well deserved.
He said the award was in line with ARPP’s ideals. despite the trying economic times, the governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa still holds sway in dispensing the dividends of democracy to the people.
“The facts are glaring even to the blind, the development strides of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s government. There is no local government in Delta State that can not boast of a road or a touch of one project or the other. Suffice it that, the roads are very viable to the economic build of those communities.”
“Beyond the road development story, Okowa’s drive to eradicate unemployment in Delta State is even more sterling through his youth entrepreneurship programmes, and there is more.” Iteveh added.
