APC Revalidation: Omo-Agege’s Aide, Onokpite Reacts To Alleged Hijack of Exercise, Warns Perpetrators
By Polycarp Orosevwotu
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State and Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Senate, Comrade Edafe Onokpite, has reacted to unfounding allegations against his boss, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of hijacking the materials for revalidation and registration exercise of party members in the state.
This allegation came when the Delta State chapter of the APC announced the suspension of the party’s registration and revalidation exercise in the state by the National Caretaker Committee of the party, describing the statement on his boss as false and cooked story to malign the name of the Deputy President of the Senate.
Onokpite in press statement released to newsmen, said it is inconsequential for any reasonable person to think that the state APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Jones Erue connived with the Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate of Nigeria, Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege and diverted materials for the exercise, saying that the allegations is a figment of the writer’s imagination and must be discarded.
The Legislative aide said the allegations against his boss were mere distractions to overlook plans by some political leaders with desperate political intentions to remove the state party chairman, Jones Erue by all means, adding that since they could not succeed hence this allegation of hijacking of registration and revalidation exercise.
He said if others do, he cannot wait and allow this fabricated cheap blackmail purportedly cooked by some leaders to frustrate the registration exercise continue to disabuse the minds of party faithful against his boss for their personal interest and goals.
Onokpite said, “We will not succumb to this unfounded story trending in both social media, online and newspapers. l had expected that the Deputy President of the Senate should be appreciated for his uncommon achievements and purposeful representation and not to smear his name over what he knows nothing about.
“How could the same person prior the validation exercise calling on Deltans to come out and register and even extended his call to other political parties, now turn around to hijack the same exercise he was appealing to members to turn out for, this is unimaginable and cannot be accepted, because the allegations was dead on arrival.
“It’s shocking that some persons are not comfortable with the exercise and had fed some party leaders and stakeholders outside the State with cooked stories that the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Party, Jones Ode Erue and His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate had diverted materials for the exercise. That statement is not true.”
