Impeachment plots seem to be the season’s order in Delta State even as Nigeria braces for the challenges of the globally ravaging Covid-19.
An impeachment plot against the leader of House, Isoko North Legislative Council, Hon. Harry Oghogho Okposo, failed in Ozoro, Isoko North Local government area, in the early hours of today.
Our source disclosed that Four million Naira was released by one politician in the area who was no longer happy with the leader, in order to perfect the impeachment.
It was gathered that the lawmakers saw no reason to impeach their leader whom they described as bold and doing well.
As it were, it has not been ascertained, at press time, if the four million naira was shared by the Councillors or returned to the sponsor.
Following the botched sponsored impeachment move, Councillors of Isoko North Legislative Council have passed a confidence vote on Hon. Harry Okposo as Leader of House.
The vote followed a motion by Councillor representing Aradhe/ Ovrode Ward, Hon. Charles Agidife, and seconded by Councilor representing Ellu Ward, Hon. Ufuoma Omoviye during their plenary today.
The lawmakers in their debate, argued that Hon. Okposo had represented their interests and the interest of Isoko North as leader and they cannot afford to dispose of his brave leadership.
They commended him for his diligence in legislative considerations as well as his sense of duty to the people of Isoko North.
