ANAN holds Conference, backs Federal Government Anti Corruption Campaign

The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has lauded the drive of the Federal government anti corruption campaign and recovery of looted funds.
President of the association, Alhaji Shehu Usman Ladan gave this eulogy during the opening ceremony of her annual conference held in Asaba, the Delta state Capital.
The President addressed members of the association on strong accounting profession in Nigeria, adding that he will ensure the advancement of the members knowledge and skills through the best training and pursuance of ethical conduct.
He stressed the need in the face of prevailing recession bedevilling the economy, that ANAN is strongly behind the activities of government toward revamping the economy, ensuring international best practices and reliable financial statement with sustainable solutions to economic recession.
He applauded the members on their corporate social responsibility and humanitarian gestures on their visit to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where they handed out gifts items including cash to some less privileged individuals.
Meanwhile, the governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the acting governor Barr. Kingsley Otuaro declared the 3rd session of Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) opened.
He thanked the association for joining hands on the fight to curb the current national economic recession.
Otuaro aligned with the association members of no doubt that the financial management system in the country needs some overhauling.
“Besides, the existence of structural feeble control mechanism that create variety of loopholes in sound financial management cannot be over emphasized.”
The governor also urged the members of ANAN to look through the challenges of public sector financial management in the country and come up with fresh ideas in the shape of accounting responses and how to surmount the challenges therein.
