About The Suspected Gun Running Allegations Against Rev. Igniatus Ogboi

Following the parade of a suspected Gun Runner, Rev. Ignatius Ogboi who is also alleged to be a member of a kidnapping syndicate and peddler of prohibited drugs by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa, Christian Okpambor Foundation has come out in defense of the weighty allegation levelled against the clergy.

Rev. Ogboi who is 51yrs of No.1 Ignatius Close Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta state, was arrested by the State Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKCCS) following information received through discreet Intelligence gathering.

The media has recently been awashed with the news of the allegation or possible arrest of Rev. Ignatius Ogboi who the Nigeria Police, Delta state Command is alleging of operating a high profile gun running business and aiding criminal and kidnapping activities in his area.

While investigations are ongoing in the matter, it is imperative to make a clear statement of fact and truth regarding the matter, especially to disprove rumour peddlers and mongers taking advantage of the situation to tarnish the image of the Reverend and his political affiliations.

First of all, the items alleged to be recovered from the man includes an English made double barrel gun which carries an arms license issued to the Reverend, duly signed by a former Commissioner of Police of Delta state, as the Nigerian law stipulates that arms licensed are to be granted to individuals who haved reached thirty five (35)years of age and seeks to possess arms for either self defence or for hunting purposes.

Secondly, a chain of live cartridges also recovered but not amounting to the figures speculated, are ammunitions which is being donated to the various vigilantes group in the area and the teeming multitudes of local hunters operating in the Umunede-Emuhu-Mbiri forest zone, bush hunting for consumable meats/animals which attract a large patronage from daily visitors in Umunede.

Thirdly, the said amount of Four million Naira (#4,000,000) is the money meant for purchasing more goods for his busy and over thriving Supermarkets and Chemist shop in the suburbs of Umunede town.

Also the prohibited drug as alleged are drugs which have a high demand but not properly oriented to the sellers as prohibited until Police bursted.

The fake naira notes, the Reverenced had earlier reported to security agencies around the area of a seized cash sums of fake naira notes which was brought by a customer who patronised his superstore of large quantity of provisions with fake Naira notes and the matter is still being investigated and also the Three hundred dollars was a money sent over by the Reverends son who resides in the USA and was only last year enlisted into the American US Marine Corps.

The Nigeria Police, Delta state command, upon search and arrest, has not attested to a confessional statement by Rev. Ogboi but has merely alleged to the Rev’s participation in syndicate Association of crime and kidnapping which had not been clearly confirmed.

In as much as the said allegations are being investigated by the police, the general public concerned are advised not to rush to conclusions or pass judgements on the issue as the police which is in charge of investigations only declared a mere allegations against the man but not a confessional statement, even when the police is yet to ascertain the truth of the matter.

The likes of Messrs Miracle Ogor Ifeanyi of an unexisting news tabloid namely Ika Times Newspapers who out of unhealthy political hate, sentiments and unprofessional to his service delivery, is peddling false allegations and spreading across to the general public through his online page, thereby dragging names of distinguished and revered personalities who also share political affiliations with the Reverend to the mud.

Trying to gain cheap attention and popularity by spreading false and malicious statements, Miracle Ogor Ifeanyi has proven to be unethical and dishonest by declaring falsehood in the air without clear considerations and based on his claimings of being to be a investigative reporter without investigations has rushed to relate this issue with our political leader whom he has bad blood for because of the political affiliations of the leader as we suspect this whole issues are having huge political undertones and is a grand plan by some political detractors of where the unpatriotic citizen Miracle Ogor Ifeanyi belongs, whom are harshing up in the wake up of things to propagate falsehood and destabilize the peaceful political terrains existing.

Rev. Ignatius Ogboi who was the ward chairman and later factional Chairman of his LGA chapter of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) which later defected to PDP as a result of the structure which he belonged which was then in control of the Delta North ACN party structure that harmonized/metamorphosed, joining PDP to run on the front line of enthroning the present political dispensation of Delta state.

The Reverend Ignatius Ogboi is regarded as a political heavy weight in his Umunede abode, working for a foundation that champions the growth of over One Hundred Thousand followers (100,000) followers spanning across Delta North, South and Central, Apart from running a progressive political empire, Rev. Ignatius Ogboi is a hardworking, honest, generous and diligent man who is focused to growth of his businesses which comprises of a superstore and chemist shop in the busy area’s of Umunede Commercial town, and to the best knowledge of many who knows him, he is just being crucified by a set up plan that may be connected to political tussle in the Umunede area.

The truth as stated in this piece of this matter, will surely be revealed in no distant time pending police investigations, whom the general public hopes on, that there will not be biased or compromised in the cause of investigations to exonerate this Reverend Gentleman.
