Suspended RCCG Pastor Iluyomade Starts New Ministry in Lagos

The suspended senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s City of David Parish, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has unveiled a new ministry in Lagos called The Family Fellowship.

A video circulating on social media in the early hours of Monday shows Iluyomade celebrating with members during the inaugural service held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday.

The service was marked by joyful dancing and jubilation.

On Instagram, Iluyomade announced the new ministry, inviting the public to attend. He wrote, “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”

Iluyomade’s suspension from RCCG in 2024 followed controversy surrounding his wife, Pastor Siju’s, 60th birthday celebration, which took place shortly after the death of prominent church member Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and son in a helicopter crash.

The timing of the celebration drew criticism, with many viewing it as insensitive. Wigwe had been a significant supporter of the church.

An investigation by the RCCG Governing Council led to Iluyomade and his wife being suspended for three months and reassigned to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta. They were also disinvited from the Wigwe family’s funeral.

With the launch of The Family Fellowship, the Iluyomades aim to continue their spiritual mission.
