2027 Governorship: Delta Women Endorse Oborevwori till 2031, Says ‘No Vacancy’

Women in Delta State under the aegis of Unique Ladies for Sheriff on Tuesday endorsed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for re-election in 2027 with a resounding vote-of-confidence.

The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit to the governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori at the Government House, Asaba.

The group which consists of PDP women leaders in the state, commended  Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda and the First Lady’s pet project, the You Matter Charity Foundation.

Speaking at the visit, the National Coordinator/Adviser of the group, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, expressed gratitude to the governor for appointing 22 female vice chairmen at the local government level.

Okwuofu also commended the governor’s wife for her vision and efforts in empowering women and the less privileged through her Charity Foundation.

She said that the group believes in the Governor’s ideology of MORE to all Deltans and will solidly promote his good governance all through his tenures.

“It is pertinent to inform Her Excellency that this type of pressure group is in favour and of service to our sitting Executive Governor. It has been an existing tradition in the state since its inception e.g Ibori’s Tenure- “Victorious Women”. Uduaghan’s Tenure- “Ladies League” Okowa’s Tenure- “Smart Ladies”.”

Leading the vote of confidence, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social and Community Development, Hon. Evang. Pat Ajudua said for the achievements of the Governor Sheriff’s administration the Unique Ladies for Sheriff passed the Vote of Confidence on him.

The motion seconded by Mrs Irene Imila got a resounding chorus of “No Vacancy” in 2027.

Welcoming the group, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori commended the women for their steadfast support for her husband’s administration assuring them that the MORE Agenda will continue to resonate across all sectors and communities in the state.

“You were called the YELLOW Women and now Unique Ladies for Sheriff, what a befitting name for this beautiful, intelligent and hard-working women. I am proud of you all. As the wife of the Governor and Mother of the State, I appeal to you to give your maximum support to the MORE agenda which I know you are already part of. Please give it your best.

She urged the importance of unity, teamwork and the need for women to support one another. “Let us be reminded that we need one another to succeed. Be there for your sister; no one is permitted to run down another. Let us love and cover one another, by so doing, we will achieve a society of peace and harmony.

“There is so much work to be done let us talk less and work more. There is enough room for all of us, but we must work as one big family and as a team”,

The visit also featured the official presentation of the Nigerian Women Attire provided by the Wife of the President, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
