2023: Okowa Cannot Control Me – Gbagi


…stands with Southern Presidency.

2023 governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Delta State, Kenneth Gbagi has refuted claims of being used as a front to disrupt votes of the All Progressives Party (SDP) in his Central District in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate.

The former Minister of Education who emphatically disowned the claims on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at a Press conference in his home town, Oginibo, Ughelli South local government area, stressed that the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa cannot control him as he is solely focused on wining the governorship on the platform of the SDP.

“On principle, Okowa cannot use me to do anything. Nothing can buy my conscience. Okowa cannot control me”, adding, “this is the first time I’m running for election with any party and I will the election.”

On the winning structure of the SDP in the state, the governorship candidate said, “you don’t need to have a structure to win election”, as he is banking on the masses; market women, churches, others, pledging to work closely with youths, pensioners when elected.

On his defection from the PDP and withdrawal from the party’s gubernatorial primary, Kenneth Gbagi said he left PDP in tears having been a foundation member of the party.

“What happened at government house gave me the courage to vie for this position. Let me be on the ballot and let God decide. Okowa knows I am a competent man. I will revive industries, pay salaries as at when due and provide transparency”.

On Nigeria’s next President, Gbagi said, “I will support a presidential candidate from the south. I ask all southerners to support the shift to the south or else, our children will die slaves. We must bring government to South, anything contrary is dead on arrival”.
