2019: Group Rallies Support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Asaba
…Prays PDP to give him Presidential Ticket.
The metropolitan city of Asaba, capital of oil rich Delta state was agog on Saturday March 17th, 2018 as over two thousand persons under the auspices of the Atiku Abubakar 2019 Media Vanguard (AAMV) organised a mega rally calling on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to declare his intention to run for the presidency in 2019 under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The Mega rally which saw delegates and representatives from over 30 states including the Federal Capital Territory fully represented marched through the busy Okpanam and Summit roads and other adjoining roads and streets displaying banners of various sizes and shared posters of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The city of Asaba stood still as the well organised members of the Atiku Abubakar 2019 Media Vanguard sang and danced to the admiration of onlookers while some could not help but joined the rally demanding for customised t-shirts bearing the photograph of Atiku Abubakar.
Security agencies including the Police and Department of State Security provided adequate security and controlled the traffic while the mega rally lasted.
The National Coordinator, Atiku Abubakar 2019 Media Vanguard (AAMV), Mr Peresine Watchman said Nigerians cannot afford to give the President Buhari led All Progressive Congress (APC) another four years of our dear future stressing that Nigerians have not had it so bad from Boko Haram bombings to rampaging herdsmen to several security challenges confronting the country that has overwhelmed the federal government.
He said the APC led federal government has failed in stabilising the nation’s economy which has resulted in many people loosing their jobs and means of livelihood insisting that President Buhari does not even have a road map of development for the country.
“Atiku Abubakar is the best Nigerian political leader from northern Nigeria, he is detribalised, a business magnet, a philanthropist and employee of labour hence women, men and youths of AAMV across the thirty six states and the FCT are asking Waziri Adamawa to declare his intention to run in 2019 presidential election”.
He called on Nigerians to go and register with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and collect their PVC as that was the only way to set themselves free from the evil chain “change” mantra of the APC.
The National Coordinator, AAMV appealed to the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP governors and leaders to give Atiku Abubakar the ticket to lead the party to victory in the 2019 presidential election because he is experienced, capable of bringing lasting peace to the Niger Delta as well as the entire country, boost the nation’s economy to an enviable height and attract foreign and direct investment to the country.
In his remarks, a former governorship aspirant in Delta state, Chief Peter Okocha represented by Dr Nelson Ejakpovi said Atiku is a detribalised person who has never hidden his passion for a better Nigeria.
Chief Okocha’s address which was presented said “Atiku is consistent in his quest to become President because he understands the problems of the country and has the solutions saying that Atiku will make Nigeria work again”.
In his welcome address, the South South Zonal Coordinator, Atiku Abubakar 2019 Media Vanguard AAMV and Chairman Mega Rally Planning Committee, Comrade Brandon Tonye Eselemo said the rally was part of series of events that will come in the weeks ahead to create and sensitize Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and political inclination on the need for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to declare and run for presidency in 2019.
He said Nigerians were very worried over the state of the nation since the present Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari came on board adding that the nation’s economy had nosedived, security of lives and property which is the primary aim of government could no longer be guaranteed as Nigerians were being slaughtered on a daily basis while the federal government stand aloof to watch.
Comrade Eselemo noted that if things were allowed to continue the way they were going such as killings by herdsmen, abduction of school children particularly girls, systemised corruption and tribalised appointments then one day Nigeria would cease to exist.
He said as media practitioners they cannot sit and watch the country slide into oblivion hence must rise up to rescue Nigeria and Nigerians from the hands of the Buhari led administration through Atiku who at the moment is the only man to take the driver seat if we must rediscover ourselves.
“In Delta we have taken the centre stage hence we are the first to publicly launch out in the country like the popular saying “Delta no dey carry last” and in the days, weeks and months ahead we will carry out various programmes for the presidential aspiration of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar”.
